Why is it Important to " Wow You" at The Village Market in Wilton CT 06897?
I just learned of this yesterday, and I was so thoroughly impressed! Why would it be so important to the employees of the Village Market in Wilton, CT 06897 to be able to " WOW " me?
I usually shop at the Village Market, a long time favorite of most residents, because they got my loyalty many years ago when my children were small. The employees were taught by " Uncle Charlie" how to bag (keep the bags from rolling over in the car, and do not squish the bread) and how to make a customer happy. My children tended to have ear infections, but no matter how unhappy they were, if we entered the Market in Wilton, there were smiles. " Uncle Charlie" would always take the time to come over and ask them - not me - them! how they were, and give them a treat. It could be a piece of fruit - it didn't matter - it was a treat from Charlie...
The point was to make me want to return, whether my kids were sick or well. And, I did!
Today, I was at the checkout line, and a gal named Maria offered to bag for me. That doesn't always go well, but I was game. (I usually just bag my own.) I asked her to make sure to "stack it well" so it wouldn't fall over in the car, and fit everything into my two Village Market reusable bags. I watched her, placing things in carefully, then - wow- taking things out so that she could try again to make it fit nicely. She succeeded in getting everything into two bags, nothing was squished, and the bags were equally heavy. I told her, " WOW! I am very impressed with that bagging! You did a perfect job." She stopped for a split second, grinned from ear to ear, and asked, "Did you say, " WOW?"
I said, " I sure did!" She asked if I minded telling the manager about the WOW. I said sure. Why?
Maria stated that the Village Market had recently started a campaign to encourage employees to go the extra mile for the customers. If a customer noticed enough to make a comment, there was a reward I guess. I didn't wait to find out - Just went straight to Mike, the manager for the day, and explained what had happened. As I left the Village Market, I noticed a lot of employees gathered around Maria to congratulate her.
This post has nothing to do with real estate, but everything to do with why I love the town of Wilton, CT!
