Hurricane Irene is blasting its way through Wilton, CT 06897 today - here and now.
Wilton has a lot of power outages, and the Norwalk River is cresting.
The winds have lessened now to only 50+ miles per hour. There are trees down all over Wilton, closing the streets, and making it difficult to get around. The Town Selectman, Bill Brennan, stated in an emergency phone message to all that it may be as long as 4-5 days before power is restored to the entire town.
The Norwalk River is cresting now, at 9:30 am on Sunday. Bill Brennan stated that the Norwalk River may not be at its highest levels until late Tuesday. During the day today, the river will be flooding into the parking lots in town, and any other low areas in the north and south areas of town along the river's edge.
It's nice to see the pictures from 95 on the TV - not a car in sight!
We have been very lucky, as as far as I can see around our house here in Wilton, there are no huge limbs or trees down yet. Just leaves ... Many hours of storm left in Hurricane Irene, however...
This is our largest limb so far
