Hurricane Irene ----Upstate New York

Hurricane Irene has came and went to upstate New York.  I am in Queensbury which is about 200 miles north of NYC.  I am about 20 miles north of Saratoga Springs in the Lake George Region.  For our area,  it was a reainy non-event,  although the media had my wife afraid to go outside.  I have listened to the weaather with my wife for nearly 24 hours.  It was exausting with lots of sizzle , but little steak,  not that I would want anyone's home to be harmed nor people in danger.

The rain began about 6AM and I think it's safe to say we had 5 or more inches of rain and wind gusts to 50 MPH,  but all in all I haven't seen any trees down and very little flooding.  Certain low areas are flooded but flooding for these areas is very common.  I am glad it has pased through and life can return to normal.

Most of the storm was to the south and east of us,  with reports of power outages,  rivers flooding thier banks and an occassional tree uprooted.

I am grateful that NYC weathered the storm with minimum damage and my heart goes out to the to those who did suffer.

Until next time!
