Send me a photo of a room and I can help you stage it!

By
Home Stager with California Moods Inc

The best way I know how to teach someone how to home stage from the internet is through photos, so I am offering this opportunity for our members only to send me a picture of an actual house you are working on or selling and I will show you how to convert it into a beautifully STAGED room. Please limit one room per member! I will upload your picture and show you what should be done.

Please send them to californiamoods@sbcglobal.net or upload your pictures on this blog. Try to describe the room in as much detail as possible as well as the price of the home, it's location, purpose of the room, and the size of the house

Lets have some fun with it! MORE FREE STUFF! My response time will depend on how many requests I actually receive.

Sheron, do you see the black out shades?  That's how I sleep, the shades were left by previous owner thank goodness, but they are not what I would call desired window treatments.  I will call you when it is convenient for you.  Thanks again.  You are such a delight!  This is an absolute blast, remember this is just for fun, no pressure, you just have great insight.

Joni - I used to have a 4 story house in Denver with 40 windows. I put roller shades on all of them...egads! Anyway, the light would peek through the sides and make stripes of light all over the place.

Sheron, in the other windows of the house I have installed dark honey bamboo sliding panel verticals from JC Penneys for the money and the look they are great.  Very natural effect certainly beats the old heavy pleated drapes from 1970's but on my atrium window in the DR I will leave it without anything.  Since this is a MCM home that effect looks good as well.  As you can tell I do everything RoomByRoom just had to add that.

That's funny because I was going to suggest the same treatment. However, with the grasscloth covered walls it will compete. I really want to replace the mirrored closet doors with louvered bifolds stained in Teak. It will complete update your room and think Fiji spa.

Hey Joni,

Have you had time to think about the room? I suggest you try moving your bed to the other side where it shows in the floorplan and see how that feels.

Joni - I know you are busy but am going to pull this up anyway and you can look at it when you can. If you just cannot bring yourself to float your bed on the other end of the room then what I would do for a headboard is the following...the sticks are bamboo held to the wall by black wood brackets you would make yourself. You can use wood, copper, stainless, or whatever material that you want to work with. The base is a box with holes drilled into the top to secure the bottom of the bamboo. They can be set in straight up or at a tilt.

It would also be very easy to hang white paper lanterns over the existing fixtures.

Karen - e-staging is fun and not difficult to do when you have had a gazillion years of experience. What is difficult to understand this is one of my first posts and not one Realtor has taken advantage of it. Hmmm

Sheron, this is the Lonesome Dove property, it is the great room, entry and part of the kitchen.  The floors will be acid stained in either weathered terra-cotta or aged saddle with an medallion of the TX star in entry.  The entry will have two standard doors with stained glass, with of course the Texas stars.  It's a very well thought out floor plan.  Behind me will go 2 French doors leading to the cedar covered porch and with rock.  It's a little over 2,800 sq. ft., 3 BR, 2 & 2 1/2 baths, 3+ garage, DR, Utility room, breakfast area, and small computer/business center alcove.  Fixtures in the home will be oil rubbed bronze (builder's choice)  the master suite bath has corner jacuzzi. Solid granite will be used in kitchen and bath's, will wait til flooring and rock veneer is installed to select granite color and wall color.  This reminds me of a lot of homes built in San Antonio.  The landscaping will be interesting as well, the builder may install an outside built-in grill and entertainment area which would be great.  This home is on 2.5 acres.  I have about 9 other shots of the unfinished model home but am anxious to get my end complete.  The builder has bought 3 additional lots and this will be the first.  I believe the selling price will be around 285K.  My preliminery report goes out Thurs..  They are building everywhere out here.  I feel certain that this home when complete will sell fast because of the quality and location.

This is the color scheme inspiration for my Seattle remodel. Isn't it delicious! It is the bark of the Madrona tree.

Yes, this is so cool, your inspiration.  I used a dish towel and no I am not kidding along with the sandstone for my inspiration.  I set up the new group Redesign Renegades, check it out and see what you think.  Shel has started a new website or will stagermatch.com.

I love the natural intense colors. of your inspiration..... .  On the Lonesome Dove property, I will select the granite, lighting fixtures, hardware, cabinets, wall color, sink basins.  The home will not have any furnishings.

Hi there,

this is really helpful to me because I am an industrial designer by training, but interested in transitioning into the staging field. i was thinking i could use my modelling/rendering skills to virtually stage rooms, especially in empty homes. i don't know of anyone doing that here in Toronto that I could speak to in person. i would love to see some of your virtually staged rooms in "before/after" format? what software are you using? how many hours does a room generally take you?  thanx! shay in toronto for SHAYped SPACE
