New Fee for Wildland Property Owners

By
Real Estate Agent with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate

If you own property in a wildland area designated as a State Responsibility Area (SRA), you may soon be paying a new $150 annual "fire prevention fee" per habitable structure on the property. This new fee was created by Assembly Bill 29 signed into law by Governor Brown in July of this year.

The collected monies will go to creating an SRA Fire Prevention Fund that will fund fire prevention activities benefiting the property owners in the SRA. The fund will not be used for fire fighting activities.

It is amazing how many fees can be created.  At least this fee may be a good thing if it can find prevenitive measures to help.
