Niching It... It is More Than The LongTail

Niching it down, way down... you heard about the longtail keywords for blogging and what kind of accumulated traffic you can attract through a concerted effort to write content that is based on the keywords that you actually researched. longtail keywords for blogging

The post I just linked to above was written in 2008 and has 325 comments on it. Some of the specifics have changed since I wrote that post. Like for instance, in that post, I say it did not matter to us if we were in #1 spot on page one or not.  It does matter in 2011 and beyond. The results are in and the #1 spot on page one on the SERPS gets about 48% of the click throughs on page one.

If this traffic that goes to your website turns into a visitor and that visitor connects with you on a human level- through a commonality of a passion for your niche-  it moves that person to pick up the phone and call you because they want to do business with you.

When your phone rings... that equals = KaChing!

There is more to the story than just the longtail:)

Good for you Katerina.  I'm sure it will be a super productive call.

BTW, a couple of weeks ago, I went to google Ad words for some of my broader terms such as hardwood flooring.  This time, though, I sorted from lowest competition to highest.  This gave me several blog topics that I thought we relevant w/ low competition so I could get up there quickly and figured the customers that typed those in were good prospects.  I then "drafted" a list of 10-15 posts on here...meaning, I wrote the tile and then "blah blah blah" and saved it to drafts, so I wouldn't forget.

I think at this pt, I published 2 of them.  Lots of opportunity out there.

It is very important to be in the #1 spot for your keywords. It is harder for some words and using a more specific niche can give better results.

Long tail keywords are some of our favorite type of blogs to write as getting specific with a topic can come easily when you are passionate about what you are writing about.  Getting that top page rank is also a motivating goal.

I'm really interested too Katerina.  Is there a best time to start with the coaching group so you aren't the slow one in the group?

Debbie- That is a great idea. I make a list in my notebook with the longtail keywords to write about- but your idea of titling the post and then putting that to draft is even better! Thank you for sharing! Katerina

Dawn- Now a days, we are finding through our results as well as those of agents we coach or do the work for- that you have to be in spots #1, 2 3 and 4 on page one on google to make the phone ring in niches that are under the radar. Katerina

Ahhh yes. Long tail keywords are great for blogs and not to mention if we focus on the specific niche so we are the market expert. In today's market, everyone wants to work with an expert not a generalist. Always good tips from you! :-)

Long tail keywords. If your a beginner in blogging you find it easy to rank well in google for most 3 word combinations.

But after not too long ..... lets say you blog 30 times in 3 months. You will rank well for 2 word keywords and so on.

Google loves blogs and if you have good content google will rank your blog accordingly. Pretty soon you can compete

with the big boys! Thats how it works.

Katerina and Nestor:

Long tail keywords?  I am still trying to master key words.  Do you explain long tail keywords in your coaching sessions or do you just help people find those keywords?

Thanks for your post. I have subscribed and look forward to some SEO coaching. I understand the keyword search, however, the long tail sounds like a pet lizard I lost a long time ago! I'm up for whatever will put me out there. I have written a couple of blogs without really understanding what they were really all about. I've been in the business 29 years and learning the "new tricks" takes much tenacity. But, if anything, that's the one thing I've got.

Can't wait to read more from AR and to join in when I get out of this learning curve!

Evelyn and Marisue- Look at the this post I wrote about longtail keywords:

http://activerain.com/blogsview/340513/LongTail-Keywords-For-Blogging

That post will help you learn about blogging with longtail keywords.

Longtail means that there is not much search for the keywords but also not much competition for the keywords. This combination is what gets you real buyers and sellers because the more refined their search is, the more serious they are. I have a lot of SEO posts for free right here on this blog. Katerina
