Hurricane Recovery Connecticut.

Hurricane Recovery Connecticut.

Yes, hurricane Irene was in a foul mood when she came to Rowayton, Connecticut and the rest of the state but we are recovering. The majority of damages were fallen trees, branches and electrical wire lines. The coast did get flooding averaging about 3 to 4 feet here in Rowayton, Ct. as you can see from the pictures below. The good news is the majority of homes made it through and no one got hurt. CL&P are doing a great job putting wires back up and restoring electricity.

David - amazing photos of Irene's havoc and it looks much the same in Northern NJ. We just found out that a 1/2 of a mile of a major highway (Rt 287) collapsed yesterday and people can't get to work. Back roads are flooded too making it really difficult to get to work. Meanwhile, most of the residents still don't have power. I think people are just beginning to realize we didn't escape Irene as we previously thought- she did some real damage and some people lost their lives. Tragic!

Hi David, Great documentary photos and will be way more fun looking at in the years in come. I mentioned to Kristine the term "Remember When" and it will not have the sting in future years that it does now. Glad the damage was minimal and that lives were not peril.

Yes we are slowly getting back to normal, still 300,000 without power in Ct. The electric companies are working around the clock.

Hi David,

Rowayton looks so charming even with gray skies and flooded streets.  It must be gorgeous on a bright, sunny, dry day!

Rowayton is a great town to live in, even with the hurricanes.

David those are great shots of the effect of the storm on the community.  The important thing is everyone made it through and in a few weeks hopefully the cleanup will be completed.

Enjoy the weekend.

David, Incredible photos. Irene really did some damage. Bell Island looks like Amsterdam or Venice. Beautiful place. If I was a kid I would actually be enjoying it.
