Looking to network with other agents?  Don't forget to look in your own back yard.......

Many of us are here on ActiveRain to not only post our blog entries, but to network with other agents in other regions and states.

I can testify first hand that I've received several referral clients through ActiveRain that I have closed successfully (plug, plug....)

But I just want to remind everyone not to forget your own backyard.

I.E. - what have you done lately for the other agents at your office?  Have you reminded them of your comaraderie as a fellow agent with the same broker?  When is the last time you've done something as a gesture of goodwill for the other agents in your office(s)?

Try doing something nice for them soon.  Bring in some light nosh to the next office meeting.  Buy a round of Starbucks for some agents and staff at your office.

Every 2 weeks, I collect money from agents at my office and I do a lottery pool.  It's lots of fun and it brings agents together.  Many times I get comments of appreciation for putting it together.

And I APPRECIATE appreciation, let me tell you!  (There isn't enough of it these days)

Also, if you're part of a large chain of broker offices, then go visit them either at their next company meeting or at a time when many of the agents at that office are there.  Bring them a little something and remind them that you gladly take referrals for your area (if they are a significant ways away from your area, especially).

Letting them know who you are, that you're a fellow agent with the same broker, and doing something that will make them remember you is HUGE!

So remember, don't always look outword for networking.  Sometimes the best possible referral business is right in your own back yard.

Ralph, We all work together with a common thread.  Staying engaged with others in your office helps to keep us on our toes.  Doing something nice for fellow agents keep the camaraderie and referrals alive.

Tomorrow night my daughter will be practicing with her string quartet in our office.  They needed a place to warm up before a wedding.  I couldn't bear the thought of all of that beautiful music being wasted, so I invited all of my fellow agents to a covered dish dinner so we can hang-out, have a good meal and listen to some gorgeous string music.

If you were here in NJ, I'd invite you, too!
