A few hot tips Fun in the Sun

Sun City Grand Fun in the Sun

We have had an extremely hot August in Arizona so I wanted to relay a few tips I know about having Fun in the Sun in a safe way.

Do's in the extreme heat and sun.

Light Colored, light weight clothing

Use Sunscreen

Wear Hats think protection not pretty

Wear Sunglasses

Drink lots of water and sports drinks, Avoid sugary & caffeinated drinks

Find shade when possible

Try to schedule outside activities during cooler parts of the day

Do not's in the extreme heat and sun

Run or jog in the hottest part of the day

Leave children or pets in car for any reason ever

Walk on sidewalks or hard surfaces barefoot

Walk pets on sidewalks or hard surfaces during extreme heat it will burn their paws

A few signs of overheating or heat stroke

Hot dry skin or profuse sweating

Hallucinations

Chills

Headache

Dizziness/Confusion

Slurred Speech

These are just a few pointers. Please take extreme caution and respect the heat as it can get you fast and affect you for the rest of your life.

If you are just moving to an area that has extreme heat conditions please take a few minutes to read up on all of the do's and do nots in the sun and heat. So go out and have fun in the sun and be safe!

GREAT TIPS!  Lots of water for hydration along with bananas to absorb is the key.  One time I got heat sick and it is NOT a pleasant experience!

Renee: It has not happened to me. I do have a couple of golf buddies that have been overheated and it bothers them every time it gets really hot.
