Gnarlier Head Old Vine Zin Zinfandel what a name for a wine, "Old Vines make bold wines" is what greets you at Gnarly Head Wines website, and definitely this was not just a bold wine, but one with great depth and lots of fruit, berries, plums, raspberries with hints of vanilla, mocha and pepper is what the label describes. A delight to drink, even with fish off the grill it went well. You can see it had great depth of color and that depth was not just in the color. Well worth buying if you track it down.
No I was not drinking at my desk, we ended up bringing this bottle home when we ate out at Bonefish Grill with friends, a very nice Malbec from Mendoza Argentina, this Santa Julia Malbec was very nice, dry, with a good flavor that went well with fish, yes we were going against all protocols and drinking red wine with fish, but as we all like a good red none of us seemed to mind and everyone enjoyed this organic wine, founded in 1963, the wine is made with 100% organically grown grapes packing lots of fresh fruit flavor with plum, cherry and strawberries noticeable with a slightly spicy finish and hints of chocolate.
What are you planning to drink over Labor Day weekend anything special?
