Hummers are juicing up

By

Humming Birds around Albuquerque are juicing up in preparation for migration to warmer climates!  My wife and I really enjoy watching the tiny birds zip and zoom around the feeder.  At dark they normally settle down and share the sugar water before bedtime.  We have a birds eye view if you will as they dart about drinking from the flowers at our kitchen window box filled with colorful blooms.  Sometimes it's just the simple things in life that bring great pleasure ~

You mean it's not warm enough there? Or they are preparing to leave to avoid your chilly winter?

Actually the first thing I thought of is that all Hummers (the SUV's) were gassing up. Which is another story.

Jon,  It will be getting chilly soon and the night time temperature of the High Desert get on down.  I bet they are all headed to your place.

Hi Gloria,  Glad you enjoyed the photo!  Yes they will likely head out mid September, we take down the feeder so they encouraged to move, although I think the move on regardless. Good to see you!

Hi John~a perfect shot of the fast paced humming bird!

My sister lives in Arizona and if they feed their humming birds, they don't migrate in the winter. BUT! You have to honor their choice and keep the feeders full.

Have you heard that?

Best regards from twenty stories up, where only sea gulls fly!...

Hi Judi,  Those hummers are certainly fast, glad to get the shot.  We pull down the feeders about Mid to Late September but I think they would leave anyway, it is just too cold here at night but I bet Arizona is able to hold them year around.  Stay safe way up there!  I will stick to the single level  option.  Thanks much Judi
