I am honored to serve my clients who are in the United States Army stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana. One of my offices is in Leesville, Louisiana, the home of Fort Polk Army Base and the Joint Readiness Training Center. And here is a little known fact ....................Fort Polk is the SECOND LARGEST EMPLOYER in the State of Louisiana!
Fort Polk was established in 1941 and named in honor of the Right Reverend Leonidas Polk, the first Episcopal Bishop of the Diocese of Louisiana and a Confederate general. Thousands of soldiers learned the basics of combat here during the World War II Louisiana Maneuvers. My 92 year old father-in-law still talks of these "maneuvers" and how it affected the communities for miles around. Afterwards, the post was opened for the Korean War and then closed.

It wasn’t until the Berlin Crisis in 1961 that Fort Polk reactivated on a more permanent basis and became an infantry training center in 1962.
On March 12, 1993, Fort Polk officially became the home of the Joint Readiness Training Center, which relocated from Arkansas. Fort Polk is home to the Warrior Brigade which contains several combat support units, along with medical, dental and military police commands to support the installation.
With more than 22,000 military members and their families, they provide Leesville, Louisiana, with a diverse and well-skilled population, along with contributions to our schools and communities. Leesville, Louisiana, along with Team Thaxton, is proud to support our troops serving at Fort Polk, Louisiana!
