I have ran across more & more people that are using re-purposed goods at all levels. Economic Times Are Reasons For Economic Measures ~ A New Trend! Plus it is "excellent" for our environment!! :) I just had a co-worker tell me that she shops at these specific stores, because she would rather focus her fiscal resources on other areas that her family needs (& has interest).
This woman is an accomplished pilot & instructor & has a FBO facility that she & her husband run. She also has three children & five grandchildren....& of course a few four legged children. She is amazing! She basically works three careers at the same time. This is not to mention the time as wife, grandma & "Mom". She is not the "only" one that I have heard chatter and are frequenting these stores. I have to confess that my friend Suzanne & I have for years, and for a reason I will share with you in a minute.
They are listed below:
Salvation Army Thrift Store is Located:
1791 W Broward Blvd
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312
Habitat For Humanity Re-Store is Located:
2299 NW 77th Terrace
Worth Repeating is located
1732 Northeast 26th Street
Wilton Manors, FL 33305-1413
The first two are two very worthwhile charities that assist our environment "globally", but specifically, in our immediate community.
They are also a consideration when thinking of your annual donations for your tax contributions.
These two very worthwhile causes are tremendous providers of services. I am not sure how many realize, but these two stores receive donations from City Furniture, Ashley Furniture, & occasionally Rooms To Go inventory that has either been slightly damaged or is an overstock. You can truly find some really great finds, whether for your own home, your "first home", or if you are shopping for college housing, or vacation property. Habitat For Humanity Re-Store was a life saver in Hurricane Preparedness and was the focus of the news for their provisioning & supply of Hurricane Shutters.
The last hot spot is a very well kept secret. While the Salvation Army of Fort Lauderdale has some awesome finds, Worth Repeating has some 'esquisite" finds. They only deal with almost new products by many of the top designers. These are the ones that they list:
Bally Burberry Chanel Chloe Coach D&G Diane von Furstenberg Dior Dooney & Bourke Escada Fendi Ferragamo Judith Leiber Kenneth Cole Gucci Lilly Pullitzer Louis Vuitton Marc Jacobs Michael Kors Missoni Moschino Prada Ralph Lauren St. John Stuart Weitzman Tahari T-bags Theory Tory Burch Valentino Versace YSL Pucci 7 for all mankind
The last photo I will share with you is just an example of a gift for our friend Keely, that my other friend Suzanne & I completed this past Spring.
You too can come up with your own creations with anything from furniture to clothing redesign. It is all up to you!!
However the "trend" for many is to take a second look at where the family budget is allocated & what is left for their enjoyment & what is expended on the other facets of life.
When trying to stage a home for sale, or "new" / current owner, we are often faced with the circumstances of various forms of budgeting in this present economic environment. We work with all types of budgets & *"we can do as much or as little as you wish".
This is to show you that there "are" some options! Hopefully this article may be a bright spot. Please remember there are always "options" :) some people need the encouragement, we just may have to be "innovative" about the approach. Innovative we "can" be!!
The table & refinish work were a little time consuming, but the result was well worth it! Our friend was ecstatic having a "custom piece" in her home & she knew it was re-purposed. :) It became a one of a kind. All of this available right here locally from your immediate neighborhood location. I didn't post of lot of these creations, as you will come up with your own ideas.
Economic Times Are Reasons For Economic Measures ~ A New Trend & a "New Trend" it is!! :) Our environment will appreciate it as well. I hope you enjoy. Warmest Regards, Pam
