Today was the Opening Day for general use of the Eberwein Dog Park in Chesterfield, MO. While opening ceremonies were held yesterday with city officials and invited guests, today was the first day that Chesterfield citizens were allowed to use the park.
Despite the opening day being delayed a month, Chesterfield, MO citizens have warmly embraced the idea of the dog park. We went to city hall last week to register and get registration tags for our dogs. They were out!! That is good news actually! That means that many residents have chosen to register their dogs and plan to use the park.
We couldn’t resist going to the park today to be part of the inaugural day. Our dogs have never been to a dog park before. Both have been to doggie daycare so they have been socialized with other dogs but an open field with lots of dogs is another story.
I have to admit I was a bit nervous about our dogs participating. We have a yellow Labrador Retriever, Taylor, who is 13 and a 4 year old Doberman named Reesi.
Reesi can be a bit overzealous at times and Taylor is getting a bit crabby in her old age. Despite these concerns, we headed out. There were about 6 dogs there when we arrived after dinner and there were probably 12 or 13 in total there while we were. All were amazingly well behaved, including our own.
Below is some video of the fun the dogs were having.
Here is our dog Reesi in the water feature having fun!
A great time was had by all...human and canine!
