ARTips - I used Dragon Dictation to write a blog on keyboard tips for your iPad! Pretty cool...

Reblogger Jon Quist

Lee and Pamela experimented with Dragon Dictation on their iPad. That encourages me to get Dragon out of the closet in my office and actually install it on my computer, since it should work even better on a regular PC, and, oh yeah, did I mention I can't type!

More to come.

I experimented with Dragon dictation today on my iPad.  I know our very own Todd Clark does all his blogging with dictation so I thought I’d give it a shot.

Dragon Dictation

Here’s what I dictated to my iPad using Dragon Dictation to create this blog.  All I did was dictate what I wanted right into the iPad - then I emailed it to myself.

**Confession** - I did have to clean up some of the text and added the formatting to make sense, punctuate and 'make pretty' but hey, it was really pretty neat.  Try it!

iPad keyboard shortcuts
Okay here I am dictating some of the tips that I learned on using the keyboard for my iPad.  One of them is that if you want to find another symbol (such as a different currency symbol) you hold down the key.  For example click & hold the dollar sign key and it'll give you the various currency symbols.

I like this tip...  there's more choices too while in the browser, in the URL ~ if you click and hold key...  Look at all the choices!

iPad keyboard shortcuts

Have you ever started typing something into a browsers search box and realize that you got it all wrong?  Sure you could go ahead and backspace to delete it all, but instead, the next time you want to get rid of it just try this... pick up your iPad and shake it.  That's right shake it!

iPad keyboard shortcutsEver wish that you can have more than just the four standard app icons in the dock?  Yup - you guessed it , you can do that too!  All you need to do is again click and hold on the app icon and drag it down to the dock!  Now you can have up to 6 of your favorite apps all there all the time.

Hope you liked the iPad tips AND will try dictation too - it's kinda fun!

OMGosh Jon, Someone just asked me the other day about Dragon. I had no idea. If it's good enough for Pam and Todd, I guess I should look into it!

Jon, I do not have an I-pad, nor a Dragon, but three cute little fur balls, I loved the picture on the Screen Saver of the Re-blog hence my smart comment:))

Jon - great reblog and I've heard of the Dragon and how it's supposed to be great for dyslexics - I'm sure this feature would not just save time, but help a lot of people with this learning disability - so it's really a great product!

Who needs to type with that technology?  Could voice recognition software render a keyboard and mouse obsolete someday?

I have Dragon on the iPhone Jon, I don't think it is possible to get to AR post from there though. You are right about the text clean up. It does well but there are mistakes that get through.

Good reblog. I haven't heard of the Dragon, but it looks like this is something I may have a hard time using because of my acccent. I have voice command for controls in my car, and it frustrates me when it keeps doing something other than what I said!
