As a mortgage lender I have come to realize that people do not WANT a mortgage. In fact they work hard for 30 years to rid any they may have. What people WANT is a home, and just need a mortgage to satisfy that want.
It is with this understanding that I have decided to learn all I can about marketing the thing that the do want, homes. I have compiled systems that will aid Realtors in acquiring leads, keeping the leads they have as well as generating buyer leads.
It is my goal to develop a mutually beneficial relationship with Realtor partners that will allow each of us to take our business to increased levels of success.
The information below is intended to give you a glimpse of who I am as a person. After all it is people that you and your clients work with and not companies. I hope to talk to you on a regular basis to discuss how we are doing and how we can improve our services to you and bring even greater value to your business.
I am a husband to my wonderful wife Susie McDonald, who is working as a substitute teacher in the Fentress County Schools while transitioning credentials as a special education teacher from Louisiana to Tennessee. I am also dad to 3 great kids. Andrew, my oldest loves animals and extreme sports. My daughter Gracie is very artistic and loves painting, drawing and having talent shows. She has recently started to crochet and wants to take guitar lessons. My youngest Ryan “Ryno the Dyno” is truly a bundle of joy. He wakes up laughing and playing and stays that way all day, well until it is time to go to bed
I entered into the mortgage business by a somewhat unusual route. While I was a student at Portland Bible College in Portland, Oregon, one of my teachers had a side job of originating home loans and he thought this may be an area of interest for me in the future. It seems that my teacher was correct. Following graduation, my wife and I moved back to Louisiana where I began my career in the mortgage industry in 1998. Throughout that time, I worked for several different mortgage brokers until an opportunity to open a branch office and become a Branch Manager with NovaStar Home Mortgage was presented in 2003. I have been a branch manager since that time, responsible for as many as 15 loan originators.
My family and I recently transferred to Tennessee and I am the branch manager for one of the country’s fastest growing mortgage bankers. We are conveniently located about 1 -1/12 hours between the 3 major cities of East Tennessee; Knoxville, Nashville and Chattanooga.
My experience in ministry, as a loan officer and as a branch manager has given me an exceptional foundation to work from to serve the needs of my clients. I like to think of myself as a “loan technician”. After working on literally thousands of mortgage files all with different situations, I have the ability to analyze a situation; foresee potential issues that the underwriter may have with a loan and work to avoid, or resolve the problem beforehand. I have been very successful in this regard and this has allowed me to close many loans that I believe would have closed a number of loans that I do not think would have closed loan officers with less experience.
The benefit you will receive from working with me goes beyond my expertise in getting loans closed. My purpose is to create “loyal fans” as opposed to satisfied customers. To accomplish this I will seek to engage you in the process from the very beginning. I am dedicated to taking the time to inform you of the process, step by step; to ensure that you are knowledgeable and comfortable with the direction we are headed.
I or my processing staff will be available to take your call, even into the evening hours, long after banks are closed. Although I have a great team that helps me to make your loan closes on time, I will remain your primary contact throughout the entire process. You will not be handed off to someone else. I will contact you with periodic updates on your loan as well as be available to answer any questions you may have.
Technolgy is my friend. I will communicate with you any way you prefer. I have clients that I communicate with primarily through text messages, some through email and there are others that "talk" to me through facebook. Of course I still use the phone and email, but can stay in touch with you, regardless of your preferred method of communication.
I have learned that satisfied customers are pretty easy to gain by being knowledgeable, reachable and honest. However, “loyal fans” are harder to acquire. I believe in order for satisfied customers to become “loyal fans” you must exceed their expectations, provide an experience that they are included in, each step of the way; providing an informative, and more comfortable home loan process than any other they have experienced. It is my goal to create a “loyal fans” with every transaction. “Loyal fans” cannot help but tell others about you, they want the people they care about to work with someone they know will do a good job and treat them as well as they were treated.
I am a man of faith and strive daily to live my life and conduct my affairs in a way that is pleasing to Jesus. While this often not a part of any conversations I have with my clients, it is my rudder than helps me keep my ethical bearings as I strive to follow the golden rule "do to others as you would have them do to you" .
