Kathy Streib of Room Service! Home Staging, a fellow member of Active Rain Real Estate Network, has brought to our attention a call to action by COBWRA http://www.cobwra.org/ to try to keep their Green Cay Wetlands Center "open". She needs fellow surrounding residents & caring citizens & activists to get involved to support this center!

I am passing the word, because we have to rally together in surrounding communities, as we would hope others would do for our cause.

We all share the resources here in South Florida & this area will be an area of importance in our quality of lives of our residents.  Our natural habitats here in South Florida are directly impacted by one another, as well as enjoyed by all, not just the residents of that community..  In the wildlife migration & various other environmental issues, this has impact, not just on their families, but other families, and our children's children and future quality of life.  So, please pass the word & call the officials listed below!!  We all know the squeeky wheel is the one that is successful.   Thank you Kathy!!

Green Cay Wetlands in Boynton Beach Florida- Please Add Your Voice to Keep the Center Opened!

In May of this year I wrote of the need to take action to keep the Nature Center at Green Cay opened.  Well, we need to act now to keep our Center opened!  If you've read some of my posts you know that I walk there most every morning and have posted many pictures from Green Cay.

Green Cay

While the Center is still open, the hours have been drastically cut back.  What could be a wonderful educational opportunity for families, the Center is closed on weekends.  We have gone by on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and while we see parents showing their young ones the many birds and other wildlife there, it is unbelievable that we have to walk by this closed facility.

Inside the Center are displays about the center and water reclamation , a large tank with baby alligators, and a small theater for educational videos.  There's also a larger room for educational programs and a gift shop.

Please join COBWRA (Coalition of Boynton West Residential Associations) in their efforts to persuade the Palm Beach County Commissioners to keep this Center opened.   If we want our children to love and appreciate nature and the importance of treating it like a gift to all of us, then we have to begin when they are young.  The Center offers those opportunities to children through Classroom Field Trips and other educational programs.

Here is the contact information of our Palm Beach County Commissioners. Please call, email or write them and let them know what Green Cay means to you.

There will be a budget meeting on September 13 that we are all urged to attend.
We can't complain if we don't open our mouths!
