Bellingham Parks - Boulevard Park
Boulevard Park is one of the nicest and most popular parks in Bellingham, WA. Boulevard Park is located along the shore of Bellingham Bay near Fairhaven off State Street. Boulevard Park was established in 1980 by the City of Bellingham.
Boulevard Park is best known for its sunset views and walking trails. From nearly every corner of the park you can see Bellingham Bay and the islands beyond. As the sun is setting the refection glistens off Bellingham Bay and the Canadian mountains off in the distance to the north.
The walking trails of Boulevard Park are spectacular. With the recent addition of the Taylor Street Boardwalk, you can now walk on top of the water from nearly downtown Fairhaven all the way to Boulevard Park. The City of Bellingham's long term plan is to complete a walkway along the shoreline from Fairhaven to downtown Bellingham. The Boulevard & Taylor boardwalk is open to walkers, joggers, bicycles & dogs on leashes.
Near the entrance of Boulevard Park there is a boat launch that will accommodate smaller watercraft access to Bellingham Bay. Next to the boat launch is the most recent addition to Boulevard Park, Woods Coffee. Yes, there is now a Woods Coffee shop located in the middle of the Park. The coffee shop adds a considerable convenience for the Western Washington University students that often read and study in the grassy areas and sitting benches of Boulevard Park.
For those that want to play, Boulevard Park features a large grassy field where one of the more popular activities is frisbee and various variations of the sport. There is also a large playground located near the park entrance for the children. Keep in mind that Boulevard Park is one of the most popular parks in Bellingham, so make sure to get there early on a sunny day.
Boulevard Park is open year round from dawn to dusk.
