Wonderful Great Room in Townhouse
There are many reasons to buy a Lake Oconee Townhouse. Lake Oconee offers many housing styles for the buyer including a variety oftownhouses and condominiums, both inside and outside gated communities. What is the difference between a townhouse and a condominium? A condominium is defined by ownership, the owner doesnot own the exterior wall, roof, or ground. A townhouse is more a style of building, usually more than one story that may be in a row, in which the owneris responsible for exterior maintenance. However, a condominium may also be a townhouse in style. In a condominium, all the exterior maintenance is performed by a HOA (Home Owner's Association) to which each individual owner contributes periodic fees. Why buy a condominium or townhouse?
- They are usually cheaper than a single family home
- They are low, or predictable, in maintenance as the HOA takes care of the outside
- Because of the points above, they are good for "lock and leave" vacation homes
- Many have amenities that are available for the owner's use such as pools, golf courses, and restaurants
A few negatives are that there is often shared parking, and sometimes there are restrictions enforced by the HOA.
There are condominiums here at Lake Oconee in all of the gated communities, the lake communities, and the residential towns. The one we feature here is in the gated community of Harbor Club at1121 Wharfside Court. This townhouse location is also called the Lake Villas as each unit is on the water, and/or has lake access. 1121 Wharfside Court is a large unit , 3455 square feet, with its own assigned slip. There are 3 bedrooms, and 3 1/2 baths, on three levels. This unit has an upgraded kitchen with granite counter tops, and stainless steel appliances. Features unique to this townhouse are a separate dining room, and a wet bar andstacked stone fireplace in the large great room pictured at the beginning of this post.

This townhome is on the end of the building, thus only abuts one other property so noise from others is low, and more lake views show through windows. The current membership is a social membership, but may be upgraded to a golf membership. The dock is only steps away.
