Top 10 LIST for BACK-TO-TIPS LIST
- Have high expectations for your child academically and behaviorally.
- Become involved and engaged at your child’s school. Join the PTA or PTSA.
- Develop a regular pattern that includes time for sleep, play, and homework.
- Meet and communicate regularly with your child’s teacher and principal.
- Make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast before heading to school each day. While it is easier to keep track of our younger children’s eating habits, we also need to monitor the diets of our older students as well.
- Read to, and with, your children on a regular basis.
- Help make classroom lessons relevant by encouraging your children to put their knowledge to work in the real world. Let them help you cook a family meal, balance the family budget, or help you write an e-mail to relatives.
- Make sure your childrens immunizations are up to date. New state law mandates students entering grades 7 to 12 have proof of the T'dap booster shot given after the seventh birthday. Ensuring your child is current with his or her vaccinations helps keep the entire community safe and healthy.
- Stay informed! with District and school email communication.
- Always make sure your child is prepared for school with rest, meals and homework complete. They will be comfortable going to school well rested, tummies full and not embarrassed that work is not complete.
