Localism Challenge, Day #5 (UPDATED 9/9/11):  Delintz Dryer Vent Cleaning Service- Serving the Greater Orlando Area, 407-522-1666

Yes, this is a big picture...but I hope it goes a long way towards increasing awareness of this big problem. By the way- this is a photo I took myself. A tenant of mine left a property like this, and it's easy to see the problem. This vent came loose a while back and was never re-attached- so all of the lint went...well, you can see where it went.

Now, imagine taking a match to it....

Lint

Delintz

OK- I have to admit it: At first, I thought it was a joke. A company that goes and sucks lint out of dryer vents? No way... OK... That's a nice little racket to have, but what's these guys' real job?

Folks, vent cleaning is Delintz' "real job". It's an important job, a job they take very seriously, and a job they do well. Anyone that's done a big load of towels has opened the dryer and found a lint trap filled with enough lint to make a sweater. Next time you peel that away, notice how it feels in your hands- then imagine a great deal of it stationed in little pockets within your home's walls. If it doesn't scare you, it should: an average of 17,000 fires in America every year, 300+ deaths and $90,000,000 in property losses. That's powerful stuff.

Good thing you've got some help, Orlando! I've used Delintz countless times now, and they've always been prompt, professional and thorough. And the best part of this? This only costs about $40- a small price to pay for such a valuable and oftentimes life-saving service. If you're a property manager or listing agent, you owe it to your clients to discuss the danger in not having their dryer vents clean at all times. No matter what line of work you're in, you owe it to your family to keep your own vents and ducts clean. Call Delintz today- you won't be disappointed.

Fires from Dryer Vents - Tragic!  A necessary topic.  I am not sure why they made some of those vents so difficult to reach thoroughly.  It is a valuable job & so happy there are professionals to call.  You are providing wonderful posts for & to your community :)!!

Interesting that someone actually provides this service. Most of the vents I have seen are just plastic hoses that you can buy for about $10 and throw away when they get old.  For the laundry areas on the interior of houses, I guess this service would be necessary though.  Kind of like a chimney sweep?

Hi, Mark:  Thank you for stopping by, and for your comment.  Little things mean a lot in this business- and a "little thing" like having the vents cleaned- or at the least bit checked is something that would show that you care as much about them after the sale as you did before it.

Hi, Pam:  Thank you for stopping by, and for your kind words.  Sometimes, the best posts aren't always the most entertaining.  Some must serve to inform rather than amuse- and it's always tough trying to keep a good balance.

Hi, Rob:  Thank you for stopping and commenting.  Steve Welmore, the guy that runs this place, told me one day that he is usually packed with appointments and on the road hustlin'.

Hi, Sussie:  Thank you for checking out my ugly photo!  It's true- imagine what a match would do to the place in this photo?  And by the way, this was a $2,000/mo, year-old townhome- no junker...
