Something's gotta give . . . Eventually?

Real Estate Agent

About a month or so ago, I had this young married couple come in the office on my opportunity (floor) time and ask about listing there home in a few months from then (Oct/Nov).  I worked out a whole strategy with them, took all their contact info and gave them mine, and then nothing else from them.  I sent 2 emails and a postcard to them, but nothing.  I almost wonder that I either was too pushy with my written communication or I wasn't aggressive enough because I didn't call them.  I was trying to respect the fact that they weren't ready to list just yet.

Fast forward to today and I see their house come on the MLS (a month or 2 early, no less) and with another agent at a rival office in town.  This is the 2nd time said agent has gotten someone I had been working with and offered a much lower commission than my broker will allow me to offer people at this point in my career.  *sigh

I am venting right now because I'm frustrated.  Granted, when I have listings, they are gone in the blink of an eye (I average a 2 week turnaround) and I am over a million dollars in production in less than 6 mos back in real estate (after almost 3 years off), but I want more listings.  I want to be more than just a buyer's agent.  I am busting my tail to get listings and getting very little response to a high level of prospecting that I do.  I want more consistency!  Any tips, words of wisdom, advice, etc. is greatly appreciated and welcome!

Something has just got to give, right?

Did you ever figure out how they found the other agent? Did they give any hint they were bargain hunters?

I am not a heavy listing agent, as prefer buyers right now.   Good luck, and hope the listings come your way.

No they didn't give that impression at all, but I probably should have known when I didn't get any response to the emails that I sent them (all 2 of them).  There are 4 houses on that small cul-de-sac for sale right now.  I am thinking that isn't to their advantage, but I could be wrong.

@ Scott ~ I am not normally a listing agent either, but I am trying to break out into it.  I'm much more of a buyer's agent for sure.

@ Yvonne ~ I am sure the other agents are trying to run off the "new girl" (that's how it feels at times), but I am way to strong-headed to give up.  I will keep perservering!!
