Jing is a great piece of software that allows you to share anything on your screen by capturing images and videos. Once you download Jing you can share your capture by email or IM, upload it online or paste your capture in your website or blog.

Get Started with Jing!

  1. Go to jingproject.com and download the free version.
  2. Launch Jing and enter a valid email, username and password. This will allow you to upload directly to screencast.com.
  3. Start capturing images or video on your screen!

That's a very cool piece of software. I had a problem with my Mac, needed to capture the screen and did not know how to do it in Mac, and Jing saved me

The problem is that Jing screen recordings can't save as a windows media player file :(

I was informed by TechSmith that Jing is going to be going away. The replacement is called Snagit. 

Snagit works just as well as Jing with a few more bells and whistles.

Thank you so much for sharing this.  I am embarrassed to say I have installed Jing on my computer but couldn't remember what it was for so I haven't used it!  I will be watching the video and making use of it from now on.

I love jing on my mac just for being able to easily mark up the screen captures.  If I don't need to marke it up, I just us COMMAND-SHIFT-4.  :)
