Now that Labor Day Weekend is behind us, we can start thinking about…. drumroll…winter sports! Wow, can it really be that time of year again? Even though the trees haven’t started to change color, we always start to dream of snow, ice and winter sport fun this time of year, anxiously waiting the next big season here in the Vail Valley.
If you and your family like to ice skate, then you’ll be happy to hear the Dobson Ice Arena in Vail is hosting an Open House tomorrow from 4:30-6:30. This is a great way to learn more about the arena, as well as the youth programs being offered. Read below for details:

Free Skating and Pizza for Everyone, Plus Giveaways
(Vail)-The Vail Recreation District (VRD) is inviting the community to an open house from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 at Dobson Ice Arena. The open house will showcase youth skating options available at the arena during the upcoming school year, as well as other skating opportunities available. During the open house, participants can enjoy free public skating and a free slice of pizza on a first-come, first-served basis from Pazzo's Pizza. The open house also will include drawings for great giveaways from Dobson.
Registration for the arena's youth skating programs will be available at the open house, including for its Learn to Skate, Freestyle Jumps and Spins, Mini Mite and Mite Hockey and Girl's Hockey Intro. The programs are for those who either want to learn how to skate or enhance their skating skills. The first youth skating sessions begin next week and take place throughout the 2011-12 school year.
