Lets face it, the reason for our failure to reach our goals has very little to do with our lack of knowledge. We do not need to attend another seminar or read another book to know what to do to find success. In our age knowledge is an abundant resource, it is self control that is a scarce commodity.
We generally know what to do, we just do not do it consistantly.
I recently had a chance to hear three different business coaches discussing the most common challenge facing their collective clients.
You may not be surprised to find that it was not strategy or directional issues, it was not a lack of resources or even time but rather a dire lack of discipline that was blocking the success of their clients.
I find myself looking for a the next method or a new formula to success rather then just implementing what I have already been given. This is in the face of incredible opportunity to just emulate what has worked for others thru modeling, there has never been a time of more openness and transparency into the lives and daily actions of business leaders.
This past weekend I found myself on the coast looking over a sea wall while reading a book on social media. It was 6 or 7 AM and the rest of my family and most of Monterey Bay was still sleeping when my quiet time was interrupted by someone on the beach ranting and raving about the future of the Loan Industry and Strategic Steps that should be taken.
I looked over the wall and to my surprise found Brian and Frank from the "TBWS" doing what I was reading about. They are arguably the most successful real estate bloggers in the country. I had followed them for several years and saw them at a seminar last year for a second time.
They inspired me to finally start blogging and got signed up and started. That was over 4 months ago and I have posted 1 video blog and a handful of text post.
I have the pattern required for success right in front of me and still I have failed to take the steps that I have seen lead others to accomplish the same goal that I have. Knowledge simply is not enough.
"Be clearheaded and self controlled..." the words of St. Peter uttered long ago, speak volumes to me today. I will be clear about my goals and do the actions that I have seen pattern for me by others. 1Peter 4:7
I will set my goal (to increase the number of fans on our company Facebook page from 80 to 300) and will take the action of posting daily for the next 30 days or until that is accomplished.
