Walker County Community Gives $24,000 to local Fire Departments!
Brooke Addams from KSAM Radio in Huntsville thought it would be a great idea to do a fundraiser for our local fire departments. They decided to hang out at a parking lot in Huntsville for a few hours to see if they could collect some money. Within a few hours several thousand dollars had been collected. The response was so great that they decided to extend their hours from 11-1 to 11-6. AFTER the event ended people were STILL stopping by to give. All in all over $24,000 was given!
What a wonderful response from the community. Folks seem to realize that the majority of our firefighters are volunteers and do not receive compensation for their dedication. This is our our opportunity to show these men and women how much we appreciate their dedication and hard work.
If you did not have the opportunity to give yesterday, it’s not too late. You can drop off any donations at KSAM Radio at 622 I45 S in Huntsville. Proceeds will be distributed among the local departments to be used for fuel and other supplies needed to fight these fires. Thank you for your support!
