Extreme Makeover Home Edition has announced the Southern Oregon family winner. Congratulations go out to the McPhail family of Medford. While I don't know the McPhail family personally, I am familiar with an organization they are very involved in.
CJ and Lindsay McPhail started the Southern Oregon Chapter of Sparrow Clubs. If you aren't familiar with Sparrow Clubs, it's an organization that helps children with medical issues by getting them involved with a school that adopts them as their school's "Sparrow".
After years of devoting themselves to the Sparrow Program, they found themselves needing help from the organization itself. Both of their sons have been diagnosed with Autism and while the country property they live on is great for the kids, the home itself is not. It's an older home with old wiring, original untempered glass windows, poor plumbing that has caused leaks and mold. Apparently there is only baseboard heating in the front part of the house.
The Extreme Makeover Home Edition team along with Ark Built Renovations who will be the lead contractor and a slew of volunteers will start the actual tear down and rebuild tomorrow.
This is so exciting for our community! I'm definitely going to try to get out to the spectator area later this week. As an added community effort, I'll be taking out some nonperishable food which is being collected to benefit ACCESS.
Apparently, the Southern Oregon build will be the Season Premier for Season 9 of Extreme...it will be a two hour episode once it's aired.
Again, congratulations McPhail family! You're definitely deserving!
