Vigilante justice on the Triangle MLS? "Report a Violation"

By

Tomorrow morning should be interesting.

Major changes are in store for our MLS solution.  The one I talked about the other day.  It has had a few tweaks and some largish additions that are having a Grand Opening Thursday Morning.

My early favorite is the one-click "Report a Violation" email pane.  (Pain?)

Click and the "violation" is reported to the Compliance Department.

Can you say "Server Crash?"

I just searched a small condo community, and it shows 4 different Area/Sub-Area locations.  It just isn't THAT big.  Sloppy.

I actually expect that MLS Members will lay off the "Report a Violation" button, living within your basic Motes and Timbers operating philosophy.

That is good.  We are so sloppy that a good morning of clicking will crash a server.

Wrong subdivision names, street names, FHA violations, etc.

At the same time, due to some major changes in fields and drop-downs, we are told to check all of our listings tomorrow for compliance.

I can hear the servers groaning already.

Think I'll log in about 10:00 and see if I CAN log in.

Hey Mike - we have had that feature in our MLS for several months and I never experienced any crash or slowdown.  I think we are only reporting "violations" vs. "sloppy" or "careless".  Good luck with the roll-out.

Karen,

I think it will be easy to sit and drink my coffee with the newspaper...

David,

One feature and a matter of months is not an issue.

The directive to "check all listings for compliance Thursday morning" is the source of my amusement...

Thanks for coming by, folks!

We had the same problem down here in Wilmington.  Bet we have the same MLS software company out of CALIFORNIA.  We can report violations on each other too.  The personnel in our association said that she can not see every listing therefore she would appreciate the Realtors informing her of the violations.  Our old system had a built in E-Check system.  We get warned first and then fined down here if our listings have a violation.  As for us, once we learn the new system it will get better.  This MLS system is not as user friendly as the one we had but this one does more things which means more to learn.  We are getting there.  Donna Grady

Donna,

Are you using First American Tempo?

Mike,

I liked it.  Thanks for noting it!

And as I input this comment... MLS is down.  I send about 30 searches out daily, and they are done and inaccessible.  Not surprising, with the requested traffic, and a significant number of updates.

And at 7:00AM, it came on like lightning... Cool beans.  That "Report A Violation" button does look ominous, though...

Keith and Robin,

I must be up earlier than others, assuming the crowd is coming later.  It is smooth as can be.  My listings are already updated.

Hi Mike, We just switched from Ambiance to Rappatoni.  Other Realtors down here put a C in front of the R but that's because instead of giving us training on the system when it was new, they just gave us a sales pitch.  Now we are having to take classes to learn all that this system can do.  Not all Realtors can take time out of their busy schedule nor do they want to learn anything new.  So how do you like the new Real Estate Forms?  Donna Grady

Donna,

Training is a good thing... If you can get the horse to the water, that horse might drink.

No new forms yet.  I'm in the middle of a couple of things that have stopped me from clicking the update button.

ZipForms desktop, so I control when I update.  Coming real soon, though, right?

I wish they would leave it up to the BIC on this one and the office manager. I know we have a lot of places that are a one man shop so to speak of here. But I see server crash over and over again.

Susan,

I understand, but I think that some people, and I am a Master Procrastinator, would find a way to keep delaying...

Mike, I noticed some early problems with the Tempo update - such as it pulling in the wrong subdivision name for one of my listings! Urgh! Glad I checked this today. For example, in one neighborhod where I have a listing, I know there were at least 13 listings yesterday. However, today, only 3 showed up. Upon closer examination, I saw what happened. Some of the subdivision data ported over incorrectly.

darleen,

Thanks for pointing that out.

Means it is a good time to review all listings.

I updated first thing in the morning, and all looked good.

All in all, I am delighted with how smoothly things have gone.
