It's about damn time Bob my boy, that you started recording these sessions....just kidding around man, I really appreciate you putting these in a recorded format, with me starting at a new brokerage recently and weekly training, etc....can't make a lot of these AR university trainings right now, but still want to go through as many as I can......

would love to see one customizing the community sponsorship sites as well....I know you gave me an older link, but like your voice and instruction man....

Hi Bob, Thanks for the reminder. I have had an outside blog for quite some time and it still doesn't work. The URL is a number and tech support has not been able to fix it. Kerrie and I tried 2 different domains and neither of them worked to correct the problem. Any ideas?

William,

Looks like it wasn't set up exactly as it should have been. I just made the URL for your outside blog:

sandiegovoiceforrealestate.com

That was in there, it was just in the wrong spot. In the next 24 hours your blog should appear at that URL.

John,

I'll have a video up real soon about just that subject. In fact, we will have most of ActiveRain University on demand in the very near future. We will also have a ton of short 5-10 minute videos about using the different aspects of ActiveRain.

Bob - My home page does not have "my outside blog".  Is this an extra that I have to pay for?

Jim,

It looks like you are a grandfathered Rainmaker so yes, it's an extra. Outside blogs are $19/month and allow you to have a custom domain for your blog so it can be hosted on it's own domain outside the ActiveRain.com umbrella.

If you are interested in how this works or would like some examples of how people are using them effectively please contact me and I'd be happy to share.

Thanks Bob.  That's what I thought.  Will this be covered tomorrow on the Raincamp webinar?   My first question is why would I want/need an outside blog?  I would like to see some examples.  thanks.

What is the point of having an outside blog if my activerain blog shows up to the public anyway?  Could someone please explain?

Seana,

Great question. The main point would be to have your blog content on your own domain, separate from other content on ActiveRain. If you wanted to send a link to your client for a blog post you'd written, having that content on your own domain is a great way to do that.

It never hurts to have more than one position on the search engines. Many of our members that have had their outside blogs up and running for some time have their outside blog ranking as well as their ActiveRain content (same content in two different spots) ranking on the first page of the search engines.

If you want to really maximize the effect of your outside blog I would suggest that you focus the outside blog on a specific niche. Only send content to that outside blog that has to do with that niche and that will help the outside blog dominate the search engines for that particular niche. Here is a good example of a niche outside blog:

Warren County Patio Homes

Although Bill and Liz have much more content in their AR blog than what is on that outside blog, they have specifically built that outside blog with their niche in mind. It's working for them.

If you have more questions, feel free to call me.

I subscribed to active rain a few weeks ago and I am finally getting around to using it. Just playing around with my setting and about to post a few blogs. I use ePropertySites and I have gone through a lot of their blog training but I am very much looking forward to working with you. I just registered for all of your upcoming webinars. Practice makes perfect!

Are you going to do some more draft review classes? That would be awesome. I am getting some good ranking on google but my blogs are just too much text, I need to encorporate images and many other cool tricks I am learning about. I really want to imbed a field where people can put their contact info in to request for info or to get a rate quote or to get a free report. I am thinking I need to bring in Awebber or my new Optimize Press tool that I just picked up for making squeeze pages. Thoughts there? I know there is a comment section but I want my call to action to be to contact me for more info. I don't trust them to just click my email address, leave a comment, or just goto my real website and appy for a mortgage.  I need something more.

Let me know what you think and keep up the good work! Loving the recordings!!!!

Oh the whole reason I came to this forum was to ask if my level of account comes with an outside blog? I have lots of domains I could use...
