Running on clean energy is truly the right thing to do. However, more pepole seem to understand this in the western states than in the southeast, where I live. More pepole need to start making the environmentally-conscious decisions in their daily lives that can make a big difference (water conservation, recycling, etc.). Here in NC, I hardly ever see pepole using rakes. Remember those? Rakes make so much more sense than leaf-blowers. Small cars make so much more sense than SUV's. I really appreciate pepole like Maria in Tuscon, but her efforts still don't make up for the general ignorance of pepole in my home-state. My apartment complex, for example, doesn't even offer recycling services (so my girlfriend and I have to take it to a recycling center once a month or so). My point is that this ignorance has a lot to do with environmental education and the media, and North Carolina (and the southeast in general) needs to be more aware and can do a much better job by making some simple changes. Come on, pepole, we're smarter than this! Aren't we?
