Raincamp Contest and Video Demo - Win a new Kodak Scanmate i920 Scanner!!!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Eastman Kodak Company

Hello Activerain,

So a few weeks back I gave you a preview of our new compact scanner for business, the Kodak Scanmate i920. Today I'm proud to say we've released it and I've got some video for you to sink your teeth into, and an exciting contest right on the heels of Raincamp for you!

It's that time of year where you start thinking about and planning for the new tools that are going to help your business not only this year but also next year. Today at Raincamp I covered Cloud Printing and our latest high speed compact scanner,  the Kodak Scanmate i920.

Kudos to Gail Harris for winning the brand new, cloud ready OFFICE HERO 6.1 Printer!

Kodak OFFICE HERO 6.1

Then we talked scanning and our new highly portable, high speed Scanmate i920 - today you get a chance to learn about it and win one!

Kodak Scanmate i920 high speed compact scanner

First, let's review the reasons you would want a dedicated scanner, and a compact one at that.

  1. Speed:  High speed scanners help you quickly convert hundreds or thousands of paper documents into digital  images and searchable PDF files

  2. Portability:  Size matters!   Having a scanner you can easily transport and power by plugging into a DC inverter for your car or wherever you are will help you in those situations where you need to send a signed, scanned document quickly

  3. Save Time, Reduce Paper Storage - Ultimately, scanners help you save time and space and a dedicated device like the Scanmate will scan far faster than any all-in-one printer can,

Now let's take a look at how the Scanmate i920 works!

Video Demo #1 -

Yep, it's that fast.  And that was double sided scanning too, not just single sided.....Oh, and we also scanned multiple document types, paper documents and even credit cards etc.  with a SINGLE PASS.  Yes I'm bragging, but that's how dominant Kodak is in scanners - and why nobody even comes close.

Video Demo #2

Yep, that was  double sided credit card scan......think that would speed up your appraisal submission or your mortgage application?   Yep.....I'm still bragging.

OK Seriously, You can get the Scanmate i920 through our real estate store in the next couple of weeks, or you can buy from any of our online partners.

Buy it now at Office Depot.Com - CLICK HERE!

Now - who wants to win a Scanmate i920?   Here's the contest!

1)  Post a comment on my blog below and tell us of a situation in the last year where you could have used a scanner - whether on the go or just at  your office.  Alternately, if you don't have a "scanner saved me" story, tell us how you would reduce your paper waste or storage with a new scanner!

2) ActiveRain staff will read the posts and pick the winner randomly.

3)  We'll re-blog and announce the winner, and send you BRAND NEW SCANMATE i920!

****Winner will be chosen at the end of the day on 9/9/2011****

Hello Mark!

Hey that looks like a pretty nifty scanner.  Most of my work is dealing with senior citizens, most of whom are not necessarily tech-friendly.  So, I get a lot of signatures in person, drive back to the office, scan them in, then deliver back to the client, who does not usually do email either.

With this scanner, I can save a trip to and from, scan in immediately after signature, and then hand the documents right back to my client so they'll have their own copy.  Wow, I've saved sheets and sheets of paper, gallons and gallons of gasoline, and freed up hours and hours of time to call on more buyers and sellers.

What a difference this little device can make in all of our lives.

Thank you KODAK for producing another way to make all of our lives easier.  And thank you Mark for being part of ActiveRain.

We have a paperless office and have a nice big scanner there. But if I had this Kodak scanner, I'd save paper,  save gas, save time and keep my clients extremely happy.

Many times I have to go miles to get something signed, then run back to the office and scan it. This way I would have it with me and do the job immediately. I think it is a great selling feature for listing presentations.

I have a Kodak zoom camera, and the new Kodak hand held video as I opted for this instead of the FLIP video every store was selling. Yep, everyone says the Kodak is the best and the Flip was discontinued!! I grew up with Kodak film and cameras and will always be a Kodak fan.

I would really like this scanner or I may have to get one myself for Christmas.

Mark, Thanks for sharing with the AR Group RainCamp. Great Eyeopener. You can't imagine how I hate to run back to the office to scan documents. I've got my heart set on a Scanmate i920. Definitely in my future.

Mark, here's my REAL story.

I always want to save the scan all documents related to the transaction. One of them is a deposit check.

My buyer had an accepted offer for a beautiful home - and I had to pick up and deliver the check to the listing office at Worcester - 60 miles from my home and office. So a trip just back home was not going to cut it when the gas prices are close to $4/gallon! I normally carry a portable scanner with me - small and slick. So, I thought - it's a simple job for me.

After I picked up the check from my buyer, I pulled my car into a parking lot, took out my scanner and connected it to my laptop. For some reason, being portable scanner, there were no glider/guides to hold the check straight and every time I scan (being a slow scanner, it would take about 10 minutes for each scan), I'd see that the image is slightly angled. Being a perfectionist, I'd re-scan with the same results. Finally, the 4th attempt was successful - and I had a sigh of relief. Yes, this portable scanner did save my day but it also cost me extra 30 minutes - and little frustration, too.

I was good with all my documents with 'paperless' office, thanks to the portable scanner. Though I have been looking for a better solution since than and used that expensive portable scanner only when in a dire need.

What I need now is a scanner that has speed and accuracy along with portability.

I am sure my task would have been lot easier had I had Kodak i920 then. May be, now is the time for me to get it. What do you think?

Hi Mark,

I could have put this new Kodak scanner to good use just this morning! Yes, it was just this morning when I have had my last scanning episode with an older model that is hooked up to an equally older laptop.  While it's been a great device in its time it has become extremely slow and frustrating to use as the software is no longer supported.  There are other methods to "scan" but they are not very functional for multi-page documents as they often will scan one page at a time and you end up with a dozen or so single files to open.

I needed to email out a listing agreement with a bunch of additional forms to a customer early this morning and although I knew better, I tried the old scanner.  To make a long story short, half an hour later without having been able to scan even one page, I packed up and drove 15 minutes to my office just to scan in a document using the office scanner.

This new Kodak scanner would have certainly saved time, gas, and much frustration along the way not to mention how much better it would have made me looked in the eyes of my customer for practically being able to email a rather lenghty document in a minimum of time!

Thanks!

First, thanks so much for participating in RainCamp/supporting AR...and sharing/offering these great products.  Looking forward to eliminating paper storage/clutter, plus - bonus - easy transactions with the SCANMATE i920.  Currently facing the challenge of boxing up documents from last year (yes, I'm a bit behind), and been thinking how much easier it would be to scan and save than carry boxes to store room!

Also, owning a SCANMATE i920 would really assist by providing my out-of-towners a neat document package to sign and return.  Was wondering if I should actually provide a scanner to some of my sellers who don't have scanner access with a portable one in the beginning of the transaction instead of getting documents back in jpg or faxes...which you can't read!  So, if I win it, I may have to implement that idea!!

Going green and ease of convenience...WIN-WIN, and if I win...WIN-WIN-WIN!  Either way, can't wait to try it!  Woohoot!

PS - congrats, Gail!

My office is my home but REALLY it's in my car.  I live and work in a very rural area, so I'm always on the go out to some farm or acreage, or lake lots around Raymond Gary Lake.

I've learned to take multiple copies of everything with me when I leave the office so they can sign and have a copy and also sign my copies..

With a portable scanner, they could sign one copy and I could scan it in.. saving time printing off all the extra copies, saving time by not having to sign multiple copies.. less confusion and just all around a better way to handle it.

Great presentation of the Kodak products yesterday.

Thanks for the great info on this new scanner.

We use the scanner all the time, and rarely fax anything.  Being mostly home-based this will save us a ton of gas and time by avoiding the trips to the company office to use their big, bulky and slow scanner.

It also looks like your machine is not too finicky when it comes to the source-paper stock.  The company's current machine is prone to grab more than one page at a time -- which is an incredible frustration when that happens!

WOW! The newest technology in a portable scanner.. I know our clients would be impressed that a rale state office in Southeast Oklahoma had the latest and best way to take the office portable.

Combine it with our laptop and wifi hot spot and we're good no matter where we are..

I was very excited to hear about this yesterday at our online RainCamp - THANK YOU!    I am eager to use this new product as it will make my life soooo much simpler.  I am forever running back and forth to the office to scan documents and to be able to have this portable model . . . whew, I can't even begin to tell you the time you'll save me.

I could have used this during the storms we experienced this summer and the subsequent power outages.  You see, our printer/fax/scanner/copier at the office is linked to the receptionist's computer.  When we lost our power over the weekend, we had to reboot everything but we didn't know the receptionist's codes and couldn't get that all singing, all dancing machine to function.

If I'd your new scanner I could have it linked to my laptop, scanned all my documents for emailing and had several done deals.  Instead I had to make a bunch of apologies for our archaic technology and arrange for extensions until our receptionist arrived at work Monday morning!  Thanks again for teaching us so much yesterday!

I opened an office 11 months ago in Tracy, CA. I have told all 10 agents that we will lead with revenue. I won't get in debt just to have the latest and greatest.  In the past year there have been so many times a scanner would have come in handy. Instead we fax our selves the documents, then those come to our email via PDF, and then are saved.

We have a 5 year old Fax scanner than does it's job, but it's slow and old.

We would have used a scanner to scan all our short sale documents, lots of pages, lots of data.

We would have usedd a scanner to scan in contracts, purchase and listing.  Instead we fax ourselves these documents, then put them in our "cloud" to eliminate paperwork.

I would have used a scanner to imput loan modification clients.

there are so many ways a scanner would be useful.  One agent in my office was astounded that I don't have a scanner.

Mark,

I enjoyed your bit on Raincamp yesterday!  I do have an all-in-one at the house, but it doesn't scan anywhere near as fast as that.  It's very sloooow.  What could I do with that scanner??  Get rid of THIS! -File Cabinets

Those cabinets and boxes take up major real estate in my office.  I'd love to be able to ditch them!!

Hi - I still have tons of paperwork that needs to be scanned.  Having a law firm, a real estate brokerag and a mortgage broker in one office makes for a ridiculous amount of paperwork.

We have a scanner, but nothing fast and nothing to take care of the real problem.

If you see the picture below, you'll know just how much we could desperately use this scanner and how grateful we would be.

Paper-less Challenge

And this picture doesn't even show the 5 filing cabinets full of files, so you can imagine what this would change for us.

Congratulations to Bob Marsh from Sun Lakes AZ! Bob won the random drawing for the Kodak Scanmate i920. Thank you to everyone who told us how they would use a scanner in their business.

Looks like Bob's clients will be getting fresh new copies of any documents they sign with him. No big deal now that they may not be the most technologically advanced clientele out there. They have an agent who has it covered!

We used a random number generator from Random.org to select the winner and it had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he has the best name out there!!
