Reaching Out to An Associate in Need . . . Pay it Forward

While reading through my Social Blog, I caught a word on sonmeone's post that made me stop.

There was a tone that I caught that hit the sense in me that this particular blogger was having problems  or maybe just caught up in some excesses of life and just needed a helping hand or maybe just an ear to talk to.

I made the call and we made the connection. As we were already a subscriber to each other's posts, it took a lot of the clumsiness out of the conversation and allowed us to just friend talk.

Yes, there were some issues in their life; and yes times have been stressed, and yes it was good just to have a change in the day to change their focus.

When the conversation was over, it was confirmed that we would meet up shortly, just to sit and continue the talk over lunch.

We have all manner of opportunities around us daily to help with a random act of kindness. The signs are there and not all involve extending ourselves financially, unless of course we pick up the check.

Look and listen, you don't know when there is a sign of strain that we can help to alleviate if only for a few minutes.

Ed,

Thank you so much for caring. You must be a very nice man! In 2011 many people are stressed beyond their limits or so they think. Thank you for reminding us to stop and listen. We never know when we can make a tremendous difference in some person's life.

It is always great to be a listener. Sometimes just talking out a situation helps alleviate the stress.

Sometimes it is hard to build relationships in this business.  We can tend to work in isolation.  Good post.

More and more it seems that we are counselors....for our clients.  Your reminder that our associates and affiliates might need a little of that TLC is timely and heartfelt.

Thanks for sharing Ed!

Dear Ed,

Great reminder. Often, we can find the solution to a problem just by talking it out loud to someone. If that someone has an idea or two or a resource of their own to contribute, all the better. Half way to a lighter load.

To all that stopped, I am humbled by both the feature and the response. I was just putting up a weekly Pay it Forward post, and this was the first thing I had done this week that came into my mind. Thank you to all.

It's a two-way street.   When I'm down, the best pick-me-up is doing something for someone else.   Listening is great blessing.   And appreciating.   These gifts take little time and no money but do a world of good.

We don't always catch that we may have said something the wrong way or in the wrong tone. It helps to have a caring friend or colleague that will touch base and see if that's what we really meant or it there is a different issue.

Hey Ed!  Yeah I'm a little slow to catch on .... I think I might know exactly who you're talking about!  LOL   Although knowing you the way I think I do - you probably make these types of calls A LOT so I guess I can't assume you're talking about me here.  Regardless, I'm looking forward to lunch with you soon!  Your REALLY did brighten my day.  Thank you my friend!!
