Step 1: How to Find a Listing Agent Who Will Help You Sell Your Home, Not Keep It.

How to Find a Listing Agent Who Will Help You Sell Your Home, Not Keep ItOne of the most important choices you will make in the home selling process is which listing agent to use.  While all listing agents may seem equal on the surface, not all measure up in terms of performance when it comes to getting your home sold quickly and for the highest rate of return for you.  Getting started with selecting a listing agent may seem overwhelming, but there are some simple steps you can take to find the perfect fit for you and your needs.
 
                                                                     

 

 

Part A-Getting Started with Choosing a Listing Agent:

Ask For Referrals
The number of Realtors available to list your home may seem endless.  It is important that you select an agent who understands your needs and knows what it takes to get your home sold.  To get started on your search for a listing agent, ask for referrals.  Call past agents' clients and ask about their experiences with the agents and about the quality of their services.  Friends and family members who have recently bought or sold a home can also be great sources of information about quality agents.

Search Online
When getting started finding a listing agent, search online.  The Internet is a great resource to find information about local real estate companies as wel las about individual Realtors.  When you're searching online, look for Realtors who show up in several places.  A Realtor who has his or her listings posted on many sites will also post your home on several sites, getting it maximum buyer exposure.  Buyers search for homes for sale online, so you should also search for listing agents online.  Also look for agents that have a blog or articles educating home buyers and sellers.  Search for things like real estate-related YouTube videos and real estate tips posted on Facebook that provide both education and online advertising.

Find Agents that are Active in the Local Area
To get your home sold quickly and at the highest rate of return, you want to work with a listing agent who is very knowledgeable of the local real estate market.  Take a drive around your neighborhood and surrounding areas and notice the real estate signs posted in yards.  Take note of the names and companies listed, and include these in your online search.  Also, search through Sunday newspaper real estate ads, current homes for sale open house listings, and local home magazines.  Find the Realtors that are active in the local market.  To learn more about agents with top results and local knowledge, contact the manager broker or agency head of local real estate companies and ask about top-performing agents.
