I first saw this on Kathy Schowe's re-blog. This I am sure would be an AMAZING wall. So many people have been touched by the loss of a friend, loved one, coworker, neighbor, colleague in another office, or someone in the same industry. As a result of the "entire" war on terrorism we have lost many. The event itself was just the beginning. We had the first responders following, along of course, our brave military.
Kathy's post led me to this wonderful post by Donna Bigda. I know I take this event to heart as it was such a shock as a crew member, but really 'it was just the beginning of all of the tragic losses'. Thank you Donna & I wanted to help put this forward. I will see what photos I am able to come up with to post, & put it forward for others.
Active Rain Wall To Honor & Pay Tribute In Commemoration Of
The 10th Anniversary of September 11, 2001
On Sunday September 11, 2001 we will mark the 10th anniversary of the devastating attacks that took place on our homeland and forever changed our lives.
There will be many ceremonies taking place across the country in memory of the thousands who lost their lives that day. In New York City at Ground Zero the National September 11 Memorial will open.
Surrounded by reflecting pools where the Twin Towers once stood are bronze parapets inscribed with the names of the 2982 people who died on September 11, 2001 and at the World Trade Center attack on February 26, 1993.
What is being created at Ground Zero is not just a memorial to the dead but a tribute to all of the soldiers who are fighting to keep us safe.
As a way to honor and pay tribute on the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001 we as members of Active Rain can form our own wall by acknowledging in your comment either the names or photo of a family member or someone you know who lost their life that day or a soldier who has or is currently serving fighting the war on terror to protect us each and every day.
We must never forget the events of September 11, 2001 and how the images we saw and the emotions we felt united us together with unity, compassion and strength in the days and months that followed. There is no greater way that we as a community can share with each another and with others in this commemoration of the tenth anniversary of September 11. 2001.
My son, brother and two nephews are all members of the military and I wish to acknowledge and thank them here for their service to our country and to the sacrifices they have made and continue to make for all of us.
