A Moment of Reflection - Remembering September 11, 2001
Today is the 10-year Anniversary of the 9-11 tragedy and I have seen several posts paying tribute to the lives lost, to those that survived and to those brave souls that helped save lives. It is definitely a day of reflection and I’d like to share this post with you.
A Respectful Tribute to Those Who Gave Their Lives September 11, 2001
As the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 (911) tragedy approaches, I feel it's time to “celebrate” the lives of those individuals that lost their lives that momentous day. So much is focused on the hijacking event and not on the lives of those we loss. The events of 911 destroyed thousands of lives and left America to search for the strength needed to carry on the legacy we so proudly speak of in song and poetry. That day in history, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts and more paid the ultimate price to be an American. Their love-ones were left with a cavernous hole that remains some 10 long years later.
Albeit a tragedy, the most exquisite thing that resulted from September 11, 2001 was the patriotic spirit which permeated the nation and brought us together with one common cause and purpose. There was no White or Black America, no rich or poor. The many months that followed saw a United States of America! No greed or petty arguments over whose political or ideological position was right or how much money should be spent. We knew as American’s that we would do whatever it required to “Make it right!” We were ten fingers; Two fist balled up and ready to take on all comers and any situation. It was the kind of spirit that exemplified the toughness that makes us Americans.
On September 11, 2011, we need to reflect back to that moment in time and once again call upon that deep abiding feeling of patriotism to pull our country and its ailing population from the lakes of despair to the soaring heights of what is possible!!! That and only that will serve as a fitting and respectful tribute to those who gave their lives September 11, 2001! By doing so, we can stop looking back in anguish and, as we have done so many times in the past, demonstrate to the world that America’s best days are ahead!!!
WE REMEMBER
