I have heard that the only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth. Are you truly in a rut or have you just piled up dirt all around yourself? Life is always going to throw dirt at you in one form or another. You can choose to keep throwing the dirt all around you, or start putting the dirt underneath your feet. If you put the dirt under your feet then each scoopful of dirt that life throws at you will lift you higher and higher. However if you choose to keep shoveling the dirt off to the side eventually the walls around you will be so high that it will become nearly impossible to see out.
It is very easy to place the dirt under your feet rather than to the side, but it is even easier not to. Do not become a victim of your own self created rut. Even if you have been building the dirt walls around you for years, it won't take long to rise above them. Once you have gotten your mound of dirt higher than your old self imposed walls the views of life are so much clearer.
Then you have the grave diggers around you anxiously passing their load of dirt off in your direction. Though it is great to have a mountain high pile of dirt beneath your feet, it is not advisable to take on others peoples dirt. There are people in our lives that are continuously trying to pass the dirt onto us rather than dealing with it themselves. Tell them to keep their dirt. If you are anything like me you have your own dirt to deal with. As your pile rises higher and higher the grave diggers will become less and less noticeable because they are left far below your mountain of earth.
