Do you currently have a bio or does your bio need to be updated or snazzied up? It's critical to have a polished bio for social media platforms, speaking engagements, press releases, your website, etc. This step by step guide takes the pain out of the creation of this useful marketing tool…
How to write a professional bio
Thank you, Stephanie Nivinskus
Now to share your new creation! A small investment of your time will help people FIND YOU when they are searching for real estate on the web. Go to each of these places and build a profile / register / participate.
Here is a checklist of sites where you should have a complete profile including your bio, picture, & contact information...
YOUR PLACES:
Your Company Website - People should be landing here often so make this the priority place to have consice information on why people should choose you.
ActiveRain - excellent SEO and if you're blogging ActiveRain is a great platform to help people find you. (But you're already on here so you know this right?) Make sure your bio looks great.
LinkedIn - People in our industry are often perplexed on where the value is in this site. My favorite use of this site is to have a very complete profile (including your snazzy new bio) and encourage people to recommend your work here. This shows up on page one when people are checking you out and deciding if you're the right Realtor for them. *Note that you need to be "linked up" for people to write and view your recommendations. Zillow recommendations (see below) are more public. (This is a good thing!)
FaceBook Business Page - Include your bio in the "info" section to help people learn more about you.
Google Profile - This is an "anchor" where you can tie all of your web presence together. Be sure to include links to everywhere you want to direct people to learn more about you.
TOP RANKED PLACES PEOPLE ARE LANDING:
These are a few of the TOP SITES people are landing on when putting in various search terms... find a real estate agent, sell my home, buy a home, etc. It's free and easy to fill out profiles so they can find YOU.
Make sure you add your sweet new bio to these sites...
Homes.com This site has some amazing ranking power. A great deal of people are landing here first. My favorite part of this site is you can sign up for Q&A alerts. If somebody is asking a question about real estate in your area you'll receive an email. You can log in to your account and provide a professional answer to the person. The benefits are twofold - you could have a new client out of this and you also show up as an expert to other people cruising the site.
Zillow - They make it very easy for people to search for real estate agents by area and by specialty. You can really shine by collecting client recommendations on this site. It is painless for people to write a quick review of your work and those reviews are public on the web. They also have "topic alerts" and a Q&A section. You look even more professional if you participate in these.
Trulia - Same dance different site. They show up in searches and you have the ability to create a profile and engage the public in your local area by participating in "Trulia Voices." An observance... it looks like they automatically pull information about you to populate their site. It is a very good idea to make sure the information on their site is correct and the best way to do this is to sign up and fix up your profile. See how you're showing up by going to their site and click on "find a pro."
Chances are you've been on all of these sites at some point. Love them or hate them, this is where those coveted buyers and sellers are landing. Check in and see how you're showing up. At the very least, you should have all of your information completely filled out and current on each of these sites. Creating your bio first will help you get through this process quickly.
Most sites are FREE and this is time well spent!
