Well, I am going on my third colonoscopy come Weds and I am only 56 years old. How did such a thing happen. Well, let me tell you. I followed the common practice of having my first colonoscopy by Dr Steven Carlson in San Luis Obispo when I was 50 years old.
Unfortunately, or probably, fortunately they found polyps. Well, once that happens, then now they want you back in three years, not the standard 5-10 years for a repeat procedure. So, again, three years later I, being a good patient, went back in. I think you get the gist.
Anyways, I am hoping to be polyp free this time. My recommendation is that if you are female or male, you still need to get your first colonoscopy at 50 years old. Just do it, for colon cancer is easy to detect with this procedure, but if left undiagnosed, one of the more fatal cancers.
