About 1,000 homes in Key West have a transient rental license and can be rented nightly like a hotel room. All of the other homes must be rented for 30 days or more. A tenant or guest can stay for less than 30 days but the rent can not be reduced and another guest or tenant may not occupy the property during the same rental period.

Vacation rentals are a difficult because the property managers do not like to share their listings. It makes it tough on a person looking for a great vacation rental since they are not generally listed in the multiple listing service used by consumers and Realtors.
You may need to call every company, or go on line and look for their sites, that has vacation rentals to get a complete picture of what is available. One might think that the property managers would prefer to keep a home empty than list their rentals in a central location.
