Attention Home Buyers: Making South Lake Tahoe Even More Attractive (pt 1)

 Much more good news for buyers than low prices and low interest rates.

This is all good news for South Lake Tahoe home buyers. Home prices have not been this affordable in a decade, and mortgage interest rates have never been this low.

In addition to these very real home buyer advantages, there are a host of additional South Lake Tahoe positives that make our community even more attractive, and our housing climate even better.  These positives include improvements in our infrastructure and private investments in local businesses. All together, what this means is a tremendous amount of very smart money is being put into South Lake Tahoe right now.

This is a part-one in a 9-part series to help South Lake Tahoe home buyers better understand the ongoing investment into our resort community, and how these infusions make for an even better reason to buy here.

California Conservation Corps Tahoe Service Center

The California Conservation Corps is in the middle of a $22 million community investment in Meyers, one of South Lake Tahoe's residential home neighborhoods in El Dorado County.

This project includes construction of a 6,600 sq ft multi-purpose building and a new 14,000 sq ft administration building. Both are going up adjacent to a 24,000 sq ft residential building which is being renovated.

Project completion is estimated for September 2012, and a second phase of the project, bringing the total community investment to $26.6 million, is in the works.

The California Conservation Corps offers a one-year employment and education program to California residents from ages 18 – 25. Corps members do conservation work across the state.

Corps members here in South Lake Tahoe work on U.S. Forest Service projects, which include forest fuel reduction, Angora stream restoration, fire mitigation as well as work on the Rubicon and Ward Creek Trails. They also respond to emergencies, wildfires in particular.

Through a partnership with the Veteran Green Jobs Program, CCC members also include veterans who have recently served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

One of the more immediate contributions these improvements are making into the community is the multi-purpose building cafeteria is now a meeting place for local homeowners and businesses.
