When caterpillars attack!

caterpillars on side of house

While showing a home in Salishan on the Central Oregon Coast this week, I came upon a very curious sight.  Fuzzy looking dirt stuck to the siding. Hmmmm.....

Upon closer inspection, I saw the dirt on this house was moving and crawling about! It was a caterpillar freeway with a couple of offramps at the windowsills!

I want you to know this is an area of very exclusive homes with awesome ocean views, these caterpillars are very comfy and happy with their new home!

I shall now cue the Perry Mason theme song and the following..... "I have nothing further to add your honor!"

Dear readers, please have an adventurous and happy real estate day! Call me if you want a house (sans caterpillars...) here on the Oregon Coast!

Barbara - I have seen homes with infestations of roaches, crickets, and spiders, but never caterpillars!  I would MUCH rather have them!

Sharon, I have never seen a caterpillar army on a house like this before either, I do not think they are as scary as other pests, but it did not help me sell the house that day! Thanks for your comment!

Barbara, I haven't seen a caterpillar in a while.  We have issues with moths in closed up home but not caterpillars.  I think they are rather cute but I probably wouldn't think so if my siding was their highway.  --Krystal

Caring expertise...knowledge for you!

This is a problem in my coastal area, too...better than finding rattlesnakes in the fireplace!

Krystal, I have not seen this many caterpillars at once, ever! They were beautiful, but not to my buyer! Thanks for your visit!

Li, I have only seen a rattlesnake once in my life, and that was a frightening moment. These caterpillars were cute in comparison! Thanks for coming by!

Barbara, wow I've never seen that either! You've got to take some clients by when they turn into butterflys...that would have helped you sell it and also be a great thing to see! :)
