Once you have been blogging here on ActiveRain for awhile, you'll be able to gather some really great data from the statistics section of your control panel. I recently went back through my archives to find older posts that have received more views than others. It was fascinating. Some of the posts I thought were really good were duds, and other posts which were hastily written throw-aways have been incredibly popular.
In case you don't already know, here's how you can check:
- Go to My Home
- Scroll down until you find Statistics on the left hand navigation bar
- Start scrolling through looking for post the have received unusually high views
- Check those same posts for clicks and look for a high percentage of clicks
Here are a few of my more popular posts:
Alegria Active Adult Community Homes for Sale in Alegria. (6,816 views)
Westside Coalition Hosts Candidates Forum. (6,272 views)
Ventana Ranch Homes for Sale. (2,749 views, 61% click through rate.
Ventana Ranch Schools. (2,442 views, 53% click through)
Stonebrdige Subdivision in Northwest Albuquerque. (1,938 views, 66% click through rate)
Albuquerque Short Sales: Should I Buy One? (1,363 views 63% click through rate)
Of the 6, 5 are clearly hyper local posts. Posts about neighborhoods or neighborhood events. Information that consumers want.
Now these numbers are not that impressive. I think I saw Brad Andersohn had 15,000 views of one of his posts! I'm not kidding myself, I'm never going to be Brad, but I still really dig the fact that I can write a blog post that takes maybe 30 minutes that might get viewed by 6,000 people. Beats the heck out of flyers and postcards anyday. Blogging is the gift that keeps on giving.
Oh, and if you're looking to sell an Albuquerque house wouldn't you like to have your house on my blog where it will get between 1,500 and 2,000 views? Trust me, that's better than Realtor.com or Trulia.com or Zillow.com.
Based on these numbers, I'm going to continue to post hyper local content. Can you blame me?
