Fall is coming! How can I tell you ask. By the cooler nights, the days that are only warm and not roasting and because Kingman is hosting the Mohave County Fair this weekend (September 15th thru the 18th) and Andy Devine Days is hosting the Turquoise PRCA Rodeo will be the weekend after ( Septemeber 24th and September 25th).
Now for all of you that are not horse lovers, the county fair has entertainment, 4-H projects, a dog show, judging of handmade projects such as jams, jellies, quilts, and lots of good food! Local businesses have booths that show off their products including tools, tractors, manufactured homes, crafts, etc. While you are enjoying the many different types of food available there is entertainment wandering around thru the area.
Becuase I am an avid horse lover and because my Granddaughter is one of two contestants running for Andy Devine Days 2012 Rodeo Queen , this years rodeo will be especially fun for me. For those of you that don't know, Andy Devine, besides being a cowboy actor, was a part of Kingman history. The portion of Route 66 that runs thru the town of Kingman is named Andy Devine. The Damn Bar & Steakhouse has a room devoted to Andy Devine where you can see photos and read stories about Andy. They also have one of the best steaks around if you are still hungry after the rodeo.
You can catch the Fair on September 15th thru the 18th and the rodeo on September 24 and 25. Both events are being held at the Mohave County Fairgrounds. There is easy access from I-40 and plenty of parking.
See you there!
