Like the Boy Scouts ~ Be Prepared! Emergency Preparedness
After seeing the recent ravages of nature in different parts of the country, one can no longer question the advantages of being prepared.
In Camarillo, a fair to help people learn about emergency preparedness and self-reliance will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Constitution Park on Saturday 9/17/11, next to City Hall at Carmen Drive and Paseo Camarillo, and at the neighboring Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The free event is sponsored by the city of Camarillo and the Latter-day Saints.
There will be activities for all ages, with a focus on water and food storage, emergency communications, insurance, family finances, first aid and CPR. The first 200 visitors will receive a free T-shirt and Ready Ventura County bag, and vendors will sell food and emergency preparedness items. There will be Dutch oven treats and child-protection coloring books.
Participants will include the Ventura County fire and sheriff's departments, Ventura County Emergency Medical Services and the American Red Cross.

Sandy--good advice for everyone. My mother was the ultimate planner for emergencies whether traveling or being prepared for power outage. During winter months I keep warmer clothes, boots and blanket in trunk. In summer I have shorts & sneakers so I am ready to walk between appts.
Nice to see you again.

Hi Mary, I like that idea about keeping shorts & sneakers for a walk in the summertime. It sounds like you inherited your mother's planning ability.
