End of Year Task, Best Practices!

Yes, here we are, in the last quarter of 2011.  Time to start planning your goals for 2012.   Time to realign your budget for your business and for your home.  Reflecting on this past year, will offer you insight into next year's plan for success.

Make a check off list, to be sure that you stay on track.  I do this because it seems that just when I start with this project, I become busy with real estate and the holidays.  As long as I have the list, visible in front of me, I can check off the steps that I need to make, one at a time.

Here is my partial list for this exercise.  Yes, I need to finish my list, before I start the process.  These are in no certain order of importance.  Working on it!

Home budget      -   house insurance, health insurance, medical expenses, repairs, appliances, fuel and utilities.(I believe that self-employed people can claim their health insurance premiums as a business expense, however, to be sure, please check with your accountant.)

Personal Budget  -   hair salon, clothes, shoes, spa, golf, baseball games, travel and retirement fund.

Business Budget -   car and truck maintenance, signs, lockboxes, mls dues, Realtor dues, zipforms, websites, phone, faxes, cell phone, utilities, client events, office supplies, coaching, fuel, travel E&O insurance, car & truck insurance,  marketing and advertising.

Holiday Budget, 2011 ~ Staying within a budget during the holidays has always helped me start the next year, strong.  This will be both personal and business planning.

Just thinking about this exercise, motivates me.  I know that I have taken cuts, here and there, this year and it will allow me to have more of an investment into my reserve account.
