Mary - very sweet. You're going to be seeing her soon - are ya getting excited? (dumb question) Lovely tribute to her and that song always makes me sentimental. Hope you're enjoying the weekend.
Hi Carla,
Brenda had been on my mind for several days off and on, and it hit me I needed and wanted to do this. No particular reason other than it has been in my head for a while. I am glad you, liked it. She is one great daughter and friend as well.
Hi Debb,
I am glad you like it. Actually Brenda is my oldest daughter and the one that lives in Battle Ground, although I don't get to see her certainly as often as I would like. Kristen is my daughter that lives in Hawaii and is Gabby's mother. Gabby being my granddaughter that has lived with us for five years and just moved to Hawaii to be with her mom.
I love the song because it is meaningful, and because it meant a lot to Brenda and she gave it to me as to how she had felt over the years.
I am very excited to be going for 10 days I think they have a lot of good things planned for me. Thank you so much for commenting and I am enjoying a very quiet weekend, I hope you are as well.
Mary
Hi Mary, what a great relation you have with her. I love stories like this. Have a great day.
Oh Mary, now that was just a beautiful tribute video <wiping away tears> It must have taken you a while to round up those pictures but very worth it. Your daughter is just gorgeous like her Mom.
Hi Will,
I am so very fortunate to have the relationship I do with Brenda and with my other daughter Kristen as well. They are both special and I am one grateful mom. Thank you so much for commenting.
Cindy, thank you so much. You are right it did take a while to gather all of the photos together and then make the slide show, a learning process making it into a video, but very well worth it. Brenda is a beautiful woman both inside and out and I just wanted her to know how much she is appreciated from a loving mother. Thank you so much for you wonderful comments, you are appreciated as well.
Dear Mary~Well I can so appreciate this & this post & the videos gave me a pit in my stomach... We love our children so much!! I did something similar when my daughter married & I think I cried through the days of scanning all the photos for it... They grow up so fast & we want to spend all the time we can with them!! Work just gets in the way :(, but thankfully for work we can give them all we can... They do have wisdom that makes us reflect don't they!! Hugs & thanks for sharing. What a wonderful tribute!! I am sure it will bring tears, & of course love flowing, for her also. Enjoy the visits.
Mary, now I know. You should get over here more often - then you could meet up with me for coffee, or lunch, or ??? :)
Mary - such a sweet tribute and very beautifully done. It's easy to assume that our mother or daughter knows how we feel - but do they really? It's so much more meaningful to show them.
Mary, what a beautiful daughter and family you have. This tribute is very special, I'm sure it means the world to Brenda. My mom is my best friend, and this has inspired me to do a tribute to her! Thanks!
Dear Pam,
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. I did have moments of tears and lots of reflection when I did the video, lots of smiles and my heart being warmed from the memories. She is my first born and we have been through so much in all her years, good, not so good, tragic and magic and peace with the knowledge that we are so close. She never wants to disappoint me, and frankly she never could, there is no magic elixir for life, but there is lots of understanding, compassion, forgiveness and most of all love.
What a beautiful gift for your daughter when she got married, one that I know she treasures and will for all time. Thank you again Pam.
Debb, I would love to do that, you are not really so far away. I do not get to Battle Ground as often as I would like but that does not mean I cannot make it to your neck of the woods. When I get back from Hawaii on the 6th of October, we should try and make an appointment with each other. I would love it.
Hi Richard,
I am glad you liked the video, it does preserve memories and brings them together in a good way. I have so many photos that I could either make many videos or one very long one, but I don't think I will do that. I am very excited to be off to Hawaii and actually I will be staying with my other daughter, Kristen. I have not seen her for 5 years, so trust me there will be lots of memories made and recorded. I am there for ten days and will be back on the 6th of October. What a gift it is.
Sussie, it was a wonderful thing for Brenda to have written and then to give to me. I cried for a long time and now each time I hear the song (even after all these years 20+), tears choke my throat and some even fall down my cheeks and it is all good.
Susan, you are correct when you say it is so easy to assume our daughters or just loved ones for that matter, know just how we feel. I don't believe it is thought of often, and being a very visual person, it is good to "show" them instead of just say. Words get lost somehow into space where pictures last. Thank you so much for your comments they are very appreciated.
Didi, I am so glad you will do a Tribute to your mom. She will treasure it always. I have always kept cards and letters my girls wrote or gave to me over the years. I just could not bare to throw them away. I went through my things I had tucked away, used gift bags and put all of the things each had given/sent to me in the respective bags, one day when I have gone home they will have them along with other treasures from over the years. I also have some journals of writings I have done over the years, stories, poems, musings and spiritual thoughts that they will have and hopefully read one day. Insights that will mean a lot to them and perhaps grandchildren at that time.
Remember your mom will be so excited and honored to receive such a gift from a loving daughter.
Thinking about you while writing my post tonight and will be referring to another note written by you.
Love this post, love the song and love the way you make people feel so special.
Margaret
