Stage-apalooza! This will be where you will find the most thorough and up to the minute staging advice for the Schaumburg area in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. I welcome you and hope that you find this a great learning experience.
What's the purpose of staging? Staging your home is not concealing any structural defects. It is showing your home, with all it's warts and bumps, in the best possible light. It doesn't add another full bath or add that basement you should have gotten from the builder. It's taking your home, picturing it as a blank canvas and showing it to it's best advantage. Not to mention, we don't want it to cost a lot of money!
I think that staging has become popular because many buyers do not want to see the new home they are going to purchase in it's current worn out condition. I really can't blame buyers and I think that some of this feeling comes from the fact that buyers were forced to take homes in their less than peak condition when real estate prices were at their highest. Now, the tables have turned and it's a buyers market in this real estate arena. Buyers do not want to 'settle' for your 1980's wallpaper that should have been removed in the 90's. Today's buyers will just move along to another home that has less work or no work (updating) to do at all.
If you don't think that statement is true then why are you here? This is not a new real estate fad. This is what the market has become so I hope you will embrace it and help your home to sell.
My goal is to offer the best advice in one location.
Getting your home ready to sell has 'evolved' to this.

hi Lyn ~ Good tips here for sellers who hope to sell their home! Your statement "This is not a new real estate fad. This is what the market has become so I hope you will embrace it and help your home to sell" is bang on! Sure, in the "old days" staging wasn't the standard ... but times have changed, and how! So many homes to choose from means that buyers really can be picky. They've watched HGTV and they want 'move in ready' for sure. Glad that you're getting the word out to your sellers :-)
