A quieter week than most
In my fairly unusual hobby of observing seismic activity (earthquakes) in my region, an absence of events does not have to be a bad thing. It is newsworthy in that the activity is well below weekly and annual averages.
The maps I read indicate for the last seven days the Intermountain West (Utah and Yellowstone) have recorded nineteen events with the largest at 2.6.
As well as indicating the size of events, the maps are coded to show events that occurred in the last hour (red), last day (blue) and last week (yellow).
Nothing was recorded in Salt Lake County (my home location) for the week. The nearest event (1.0 a micro earthquake) was recorded in the last day (so, a blue on the map) to the east of Park City, about 60 miles from here.
During normal working hours, the maps are updated, after human interpretation of the seismic data, about every two hours.
As always comments on my hobby are provided to inform, never to alarm
