UnPredictable Weekend  |  City of Plano  |  September 18, 2011

Thundertorm rolling in on the horizon

The thunderstorms moving into our area this evening was one more for the weekend. Rain, although much needed and appreciated, played havoc on the Plano Balloon Festival. Neither Saturday nor Sunday morning were the balloons given the okay to lift off. I didn’t attend but Sunday afternoon was good weather for a visit to the festival grounds only the balloons were missing. Tomorrow plans will begin for next year’s festival and I’ll be eagerly anticipating them once again.

Even the first Nascar race for the chase in Chicago was delayed due to rain. Officials held out hopes that they would be able to run the race under the lights. By late afternoon that hope was diminished and officials called the race. It will run Monday afternoon.

Out in San Francisco the Dallas Cowboys pullled off a win with a great play in the last of the fourth quarter. The game went into ovetime and Cowboys scored first winning the game. It was the one bright and shining star for the weekend here in the city of Plano.

That is a great photo.  Wierd weather this year here in San Diego.  Normally we are roasting hot this time of year and there has been marine layer, all the way out into some of the Eastern Counties!  Sorry about the balloons... and well, won't comment on the football.  Hopefully you get some rain to cool you off out there in Plano!

Thanks, Kym, we did get a good shower out of that thunderstorm and well-needed too. Thank you sharing and we will lay low on the football :)

That is one wicked looking sky there! I just thunderstroms myself! So were you guys as dry as San Antonio? My mom lives down there and was saying it was really dry there!

Yes, we have been in drought conditions for some time. Yesterday they said on the news they are considering going to Stage 3 water restrictions; thankfully that wicked thunderstorm did drop some rainfall on us. Hope your mom is well, Rosalie.

Yes and even in my own Plano house, unpredictabilty "rained" with our water heaters on the fritz...it was weird last night it was hailing and our ceiling was again raining on us via the water heaters... today we're clear, sunny and back in hot water - which is a good thing....=)

Hi Karen, it really was a rough weekend for you; I hope you found a good plumber to help out with the new water heaters. If you really liked him send the reference not that I want a plumber...lol. Thanks for commenting here too :)

You have to love Texas because of these weather changes. You never know what to expect, which is what I like most. However, I can do without the 100 degree days and Im happy those are past us, at least for the next 8 months or so.
