Substance abuse is a disease that affects millions around the world. People I am close to, and people I am not close to yet. It breaks apart families and disadvantages innocent children.  Let us support those courageous individuals who are brave enough to step away from the darkness of addiction and step into the light of recovery.

Join me at the first annual March Into The Light recovery walk, which will provide hope to those struggling with substance use disorder. Starting and ending at Falls Park, the march will start in pre-dawn darkness, with the rising sun as a symbol of the movement to bring the disease of addiction out of the darkness and into the light. Registration begins at 6am and the march will start at 6:30am.  The march route will be 1.2 miles in length. Luminaries are also available to purchase in recognition of loved ones who have endured substance abuse disorder.

100% of all march proceeds will go towards recovery support services and education in the Sioux Falls area.

Walk the walk alone or join a team, everyone is welcome to attend.

Rosalie, the photos are beautiful and so is the prospect of life without addictions. I hope this is a successful and life changing event.

Debb- I hope to make it a family event for my clan every year from now on. It is very important for me that my kids be tolerant and compassionate towards people from all walks of life. I want my girls to know that no matter how bad they think they have it that it could always be worse! I loved these photos too! I love MorgueFile for when I need a photo in a pinch!

What a great cause.  I came from a family that went through alcoholism recovery and it meant the world to be able to make it to the other side and have our parent back.

Chris Ann- I have family members on one side and the other side! So I most certainly know how that goes! I was fortunate enough that my mother was not affected but my father was a sperm donor and a different story! I have never done the drugs myself and hardly drink either! Just seem to be more prudent to learn from other peoples mistakes!
